To kick off the new site, I've decided a giveaway is in order! And what better item to give away on the Chubby Vegan Mom site than the "Skinny Bitch Ultimate Everyday Cookbook."

Not familiar with the Skinny Bitch series? They're a super awesome line of books written which focus on the super positive nutritional aspects of a vegan diet. From what's hiding in your dairy to all those nasty meat fillers, this line of books tackles it all with a really fun, sorta sassy, female voice.

Written by Kim Barnouin, "Skinny Bitch Ultimate Everyday Cookbook" was one of the first cookbooks my husband purchased for me post baby and as a family of three. The book contains tons of simple but scrumptious recipes (all which happen to be animal-free, yay!), not to mention a hoard of information regarding the process our food goes through to become edible (or in most cases, not very).

Not a vegan? No worries! This book is filled with such savory dishes, you won't even notices the meat missing! Give it a whirl, your arteries will thank you later!

    My family (husband, myself, and a little one on the way!) are eating healthier by choosing local foods, organic when possible, and eating as fresh as we can!
    I am Veg, my husband is close (still has his meat, but dramatically cut from when I first met him!) and my little bean will be a super-tyke raised on breastmilk, veggies and other wholesome veg goodness!
    I love healthy food!

  2. Hi! I am following you on Blogger now. We consider ourselves flexitarian, and pride ourselves on a little-bit-of0everything diet. I cook frequently from Nourishing Traditions, but I am also huge fan of Clean Food and other vegan cookbooks. I have yet to jump on the Skinny Bitch train. Maybe this is my cue. ;)

  3. Found you via a post on the Dayton Moms group on Babycenter. There are several things my family does to try to eat healthier.. 1) eat local, we love love love visiting the many Farmer's Markets we have around the Dayton area & we grow our own tomatos every year 2) breastfeeding, giving our 6 month old his best shot at lifelong health! 3) we challenge our daughter to healthify recipes, she's a culinary arts student at Sinclair Community College.. Those are just a few of the things we're doing to eat healthier.. but we're definitely up to learning more! Especially if it'll help me get rid of the rest of my "baby weight".. LOL

  7. I do not have a family yet, I am just finishing up college however I am a GREAT fan of Skinny Bitch and it made me take my vegetarianism to a whole different level. I try to eat vegan whenever I can and I love the Skinny Bitch ladies for writing about the TRUTH.

  9. Hey I found your post on BabyCenter and I Just started following your blog. I am excited to read about your vegan life as I too am a vegan mama. What my family and I are doing to be healthier is #1 continue to be vegans, #2 being active daily by swimming, going for a walk, or playing together in the park, and #3 eating yummy vegan cupcakes because being healthy doesn’t mean that one can never have cupcakes again.

  10. The more you talk about this cookbook the more I want it! Right now I'm doing the vegan challenge, and I'm actually doing much better than I thought. I haven't eaten red meat or pork for many years, but I became vegetarian 3 years ago. Trying to go all the way...but I don't know how I'm going to give up cheese, I gotta tell ya. My boyfriend and I both buy local as much as possible and generally eat whole unprocessed foods. =]
